Yuwen Huang is a ceramic artist born in Taiwan and based in Paris. Every piece by Yuwen Huang is one of a kind. She uses clay that she shapes on the wheel before altering forms by hand-cutting, creating objects with a distinctive character. The clay is fired at a high temperature of 1250°C, ensuring durability and depth in texture and color. A key aspect of her practice is her commitment to sustainability: she recycles and reuses clay whenever possible, minimizing waste and adhering to a philosophy of zero loss.
The development of glazes is central to Yuwen’s artistic exploration. She meticulously experiments with wood ash, blending it with mineral-based materials to create subtle and unexpected surface effects. This process, born from her personal studies, results in pieces that possess an organic quality and a refined, textural color palette.
